Arriving by Air

San Diego International Airport is located 5 miles from the conference hotel in Old Town, and is served by all major US airlines.

Arriving by Train

The Amtrak-Old Town station is located a half mile from the conference hotel. Amtrak Pacific Surfliners provide several daily trains from San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, and Orange Counties.

Arriving by Car

Old Town San Diego is located four miles north of Downtown San Diego at the junction of Interstate 5 and Interstate 8, near Mission Bay. San Diego State University is located in Mission Valley off of Interstate 8 at College Avenue, just east of Interstate 15. UC San Diego is located near La Jolla off of Interstate 5 at La Jolla Village Drive, just south of the Interstate 5/Interstate 805 interchange.

Old Town to UC San Diego by car

The conference hotel is located 11 miles (20 minutes) from UC San Diego by car via Interstate 5.

From I-5, take Genesee Ave exit and turn LEFT.
Turn LEFT onto Torrey Pines Road.
Turn LEFT onto UCSD Northpoint Driveway, which curves to the RIGHT and turns into Hopkins Drive
Turn RIGHT into the Hopkins Parking Structure.

Visitors can park in B, S or V spots. Parking is $3/hour (or $2/hour if you download the ParkMobile app) or $30/day. Pay at pay stations on each floor.

From the parking structure, walk south on Hopkins Lane to the roundabout. The Geisel library is on your left.

Old Town to UC San Diego by bus

The Metropolitan Transit System’s 150 UTC/VA Med Ctr Express Bus (NOT the 150 Downtown Express) provides service between Old Town Transit Center and UC San Diego (Gilman Dr. & Myers Dr.), which takes about 35 minutes and costs $2.50 per ride. Buses depart every 30 minutes. Allow at least 50 minutes for the journey. To get to campus by 1:00 pm, take the 12:09 pm bus at the latest.

From the Gilman Dr. & Myers Dr. bus stop, cross the street and walk north on Myers Dr.
Turn LEFT at either of the next two intersections.
Turn RIGHT onto Library Walk and walk north up the path directly to the Geisel Library.

Old Town to SDSU by car

The conference hotel is located 9 miles (20 minute drive) from SDSU by car via Interstate 8. Allow 30-40 minutes for the journey.

Directions to Parking 1
From I-8 take the College Avenue exit SOUTH.
Turn LEFT onto Alvarado Road (freeway frontage road).
Parking 1 is the structure immediately on the RIGHT.
Visitors may only park in areas that have a “P” or “S” symbol. Purchase a permit at the kiosk.

Directions to the SDSU Library from Parking 1
From the west side center of Parking 1, take the elevator or stairs to the top/6th floor of the parking structure.
Cross the pedestrian bridge located on the west side of the building.
Take the stairs to the upper campus level. Immediately opposite is a campus map. Go straight/west.
The library is located in the heart of the campus. Enter the building through the Glass Dome.

NO STAIRS Directions to the Library from Parking 1
From the west side center of Parking 1, take the elevator to the top/6th floor of the parking structure.
Cross the pedestrian bridge located on the west side of the building.
On the left, enter the EBA building through the handicapped accessible door.
Go to the end of the hallway and take the elevator to the 2nd floor.
Exit the building using the ramp on the left side of the exit.
Across the street is a campus map. To the right of the map is a ramped walkway that leads to the library. Follow the path until you come to the plaza in front of the Library Dome. The ramp access is on the SW side of the Dome.

Old Town to SDSU by trolley

The Metropolitan Transit System’s Green Line Trolley (light rail) provides service between Old Town and SDSU, which takes about 40 minutes and costs $2.50 per ride. Trains depart every 15 minutes during the day.

Direction to the Library from the SDSU Trolley Station
Take the stairs, escalator or elevator up one flight to the Mezzanine level (M).
Exit north onto the Trolley green space and go up the stairs (right) or ramp (left).
At the top of the green, go right.
Take the brick path between Manchester Hall and the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union onto the Campanile Walkway.
Walk north towards the Bookstore.
Just beyond Manchester Hall, the glass Library Dome is on your left.
