    1.2 Open position at Syracuse University

    MAPS/GIS LIBRARIAN.     1.5 Harley Research Fellowships announced

    The Trustees of the J.B. Harley Research Fellowships Trust Fund are pleased to announce the seventh series of awards, offering support at rate of 250 pounds per week. The fellowships are designed to assist research in the London map collections:

    • Lindsay F Braun (Department of History, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey) 'Imperial and National Cartographies of South Africa, 1835-1948' (3 weeks).
    • Professor Michael F Davie (Department of Geography, Université François-Rabelais, Tours, France) 'Mapping of the Levant, 1840 to 1920' (2 weeks).
    • Felicia M Else (Department of Art History, Washington University, St. Louis) 'The Depiction of Waterways and Bridges in Sixteenth-Century Maps of Florence and Tuscany' (3 weeks).

    1.6 Atlas overlays discontinued

    The USGS has discontinued the sale of the National Atlas product "Overlays for National Atlas Maps," stock number TUS0724. The information shown on this set of four transparent plastic sheets is obsolete and there are no plans for revision or reprinting.

    Scope of the conference: This conference aims at bringing together all people carrying out research in novel systems in telegeoprocessing, cross-fertilization between Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Telecommunications. Telegeoprocessing can be defined as a new discipline based on real time spatial databases updated regularly by means of telecommunications systems in order to support online decision-making.
